The countryside is magnificent: open hillsides, steep ravines, rivers and beautiful villages forgotten by time. Hill walking and mountain biking are interesting options. Alternatively, hire a car and explore some of the most historic and unspoiled countryside and culture in Europe. Eating out offers an interesting mixture of several European cuisines - Italian and German nuances are common. Many other influences of Romania's fascinating past combine to create menus which are unique to the area. Restaurant meals are incredibly inexpensive and the quality is second to none. Transport to local towns, restaurants and places of interest can be arranged on request. The resident owners and managers speak fluent English so communication is easy. The English Riding School offers a wide range of facilities for riders of all abilities. Lessons; hacking and adventure riding plus 'All Day' rides through superb countryside, including a picnic lunch, are just some of the attractions. At the end of your ride, relax in the pool, have a massage and, finally, enjoy an excellent meal in the restaurant. the visitor. From the UK the most direct is to fly to Bucharest, then take
an internal flight to Sibiu. Car hire is available at either Bucharest or
Sibiu. An alternative is to fly to Budapest (thus taking advantage of low
air fares), then take a train to Alba Iulia (about 6 hours). Arrangements
can be made for you to be met at either Alba Iulia railway station or Sibiu
Airport. |
